I think it becomes an ethical issues even with something simple as a high quality computer chips who have been branded with a Chinese label but initially produced in USA and reverse engineered under a Chinese name be considered the benchmark for our purchases. Quanzhou produces electronics to par with USA with more affordability but in the future as the labor cost in China increase can it still be sustainable for use to continue globalization on top of importation and burning fossil fuels with transportation worldwide? Should we use the green model to control globalization instead of the practice we have now of profitability and reliance on well made products? Perhaps using 3d printer to devise products universally world wide can reduce the stream of carbon emissions by reducing the need for the globalization. Perhaps open sourcing everything and eliminating copyright patents will help mankind improve the environment. Why do we need to get Boeing plane parts from Japan US and other countries to ship to the USA to build. That carbon signal is just too great of a cost for our environment in the future. If Japan shows us the 1/3 of the airplane part and helps US establish manufacturing in the US via an open book open source strategy then we can eliminate the need for globalization and each country open source and help set up manufacturing in each country then we can eliminate globalization or modify it so that it can be done within each country to avoid carbon emissions.
